Impression of Crystalline Cu with Different Grain
نویسندگان
چکیده
At room temperature, the indentation morphologies of crystalline copper with different 13 grain size including nanocrystalline (NC), ultrafine-grained (UFG) and coarse-grained (CG) copper 14 were studied by nanoindentation at the strain rate of 0.04/s without holding time at indentation 15 depth of 2000 nm. As the grain size increasing, the height of the pile-up around the residual 16 indentation increases and then has a slightly decrease in the CG Cu, While the area of the pile-up 17 increases constantly. Our analysis has revealed that the dislocation motion and GB activities in the 18 NC Cu, some crossand multiple-slips dislocation insides the larger grain in the UFG Cu, and forest 19 dislocations from the intragranular Frank-Read sources in the CG Cu, would directly induce these 20 distinct pile-up effect. 21

Nanoindentation-Induced Pile-Up in the Residual Impression of Crystalline Cu with Different Grain Size
Nanoindentation morphologies of crystalline copper have been probed at the grain scale. Experimental tests have been conducted on nanocrystalline (NC), ultrafine-grained (UFG), and coarse-grained (CG) copper samples with a new Berkvoich indenter at the strain rate of 0.04/s without holding time at an indentation depth of 2000 nm at room temperature. As the grain size increases, the height of th...

Two 10 and 20nm samples of Cu nano-cluster were grown on quartz substrates with a thickness of by electron beam deposition method. Nanolayers of titanium dioxide with a thickness of 300 nm were deposited on these Cu nano-cluster layers. For comparison، a layer of titanium dioxide with a thickness of 300 nm was also coated on quartz substrate. All coatings were conducted using electron-beam phys...
متن کاملFinite Element Modeling of Strain Rate and Grain Size Dependency in Nanocrystalline Materials
Nanocrystalline materials show a higher strain-rate sensitivity in contrast to the conventional coarse-grained materials and a different grain size dependency. To explain these phenomenon, a finite element model is constructed that considers both grain interior and grain boundary deformation of nanocrystalline materials. The model consist of several crystalline cores with different orientations...
متن کاملSimulation of Polycrystalline Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Solar Cells in Two Dimensions
The extent to which grain boundaries (GBs) in polycrystalline materials may be detrimental, benign, or even beneficial is explored with numerical simulations in two dimensions. We focus on the effects of GB recombination in Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar cells and its effects on solar-cell performance. The simulations predict that (1) for device efficiency exceeding 17%, the effective GB recombinati...
متن کاملMolecular-Dynamics Study of Mechanical Deformation in Nano-Crystalline Aluminum
We report on molecular-dynamics (MD) simulations of tensile loading of nano-crystalline Al modeled by an embedded-atom method (EAM) potential. Usage of two different sample preparation methods of the nano-crystalline material allows us to compare mechanical properties for different sample qualities. A Voronoi-constructed polycrystal exhibits nearly no pores and has different mechanical properti...
